Vic: Fire on Spirit of Tasmania

Passengers on board the Spirit of Tasmania had to evacuate their rooms for almost two
hours after a fire in one of the ferry's shops.

The Australian Transport Safety Bureau is investigating the fire in the ship's photographic
shop about 1.15am (AEDT), which set off the ferry's fire alarms while en route to Devonport.

TT-Line chief executive PETER SIMMONS says the vessel was slowed down and the crew
activated fire fighting procedures.

He says as a matter of procedure all 967 passengers and 122 crew were called to muster stations.
