Qld: Two Sydney tourists critical after Gold Coast near drowning
Two Sydney tourists are in a critical condition in a Gold Coast hospital after being
saved from drowning by lifesavers.
A Westpac Lifesaver Helicopter Rescue Service spokesman says lifesavers patrolling
the Gold Coast's Palm Beach on a motorbike spotted the two tourists, an 18-year-old woman
and a 20-year-old man, just before 11am today.
He says the tourists have been dragged semi-conscious from the surf and treated by
the lifesavers and a rescue helicopter crew before being taken to hospital.
They had not been swimming between the flags.
