The Weather Bureau is warning that if the levee banks protecting the southwest Queensland
town of Charleville fail, the town will be engulfed by a catastrophic flood.
The Warrego River is lapping the top of the town's levee banks and is still slowly rising.
Senior Hydrologist PAUL BIRCH told the ABC the situation will be touch and go for some time.
