Vic: Driver dies after car crashes into restaurant
A 76-year-old man died in hospital overnight after his car veered across three lanes
of oncoming traffic and into the front of a fast food restaurant in Victoria.
Nine people inside the North Geelong Pizza Hut restaurant received minor injuries from
flying glass when the car hit the Melbourne Road restaurant just before 6pm (AEST) last
night.
Police say the man's death won't be added to the road toll until an autopsy determines
whether or not he died of pre-existing health conditions.
The man was driving alone when his car crossed a median strip and three lanes of oncoming
traffic.
He mounted a second median strip and a service road before colliding with the front
wall of the restaurant.
Four children were among the seven Pizza Hut patrons taken to hospital for treatment.
